GREENVILLE - Rev. Larry Eugene Fitzhugh, 75, of Greenville, died Monday, March 18, 2019, at 10:25PM at Owensboro Health Muhlenberg Community Hospital. Rev. Fitzhugh was born October 28, 1943, in Muhlenberg County. He was a school teacher for 35 years, retiring from the Muhlenberg County Board of Education. He was also a Pastor of five churches from 1963 - 2015, and was a member of Powderly Baptist Church. He was a graduate of Muhlenberg Central High School, Bethel College, and Western Kentucky University, obtaining his B.A., M.A., and Rank I certification. His favorite pastimes were working outdoors on the farm, reading, attending meetings and social events, and being with family and friends. He was a member of Pond River Masonic Lodge #244 in Greenville, Shriner's, Eastern Star, Mid-Continent University Board in Mayfield, and Muhlenberg County Retired Teacher's Association. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lessie Mae and Layton Carrol Fitzhugh; and half-sister Ann Hayes.

He is survived by his wife, Rita Fitzhugh; children Troy (Amy) Fitzhugh of Powderly, Burt (Angela) Fitzhugh of Greenville, and Rebekah (Jason) Drenon of Central City; grandchildren Brianna (Dakota) Powell, Ashley and Courtney Drenon, Jenna and Laura Fitzhugh, and Emma and Sophia Fitzhugh; sisters JoAnn (Lee) McDonald of San Antonio, TX, Nancy Majors of Spartanburg, SC, Betty Nelson of Greenville, Lana (Sam) Loy of Greenville, and Jane Boren of Hopkinsville; bothers Frank Fitzhugh of Fort Smith, Arkansas and Donnie Fitzhugh of Beechmont; and half-brother Joe Fitzhugh of Kentucky.

Funeral services will be Thursday, March 21, 2019, at 11:00AM Powderly Baptist Church, with Rev. Ray Gilliland officiating, assisted by Rev. Mike Dukes. Burial in Memorial Gardens in Powderly. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5-8PM at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City and Thursday after 9:00AM at Powderly Baptist Church. Online condolences may be made at www.tuckerfuneralhomes.com.
