GREENVILLE – Bettye Lou Hopkins Reynolds, 78, of Greenville, died Tuesday, February 20, 2018, at 10:08AM at Owensboro Health Muhlenberg Community Hospital. Mrs. Reynolds was born February 23, 1939, in Lynch, KY, in the mountains to Abraham and Annie Mae Matthews Hopkins and raised in Saw Mill Hollow in Cumberland, KY. She graduated from Benham High School in 1957.

She furthered her education at West Kentucky Vocational College in Paducah as a licensed cosmetologist. There she met and married Edgar O. "Trib" Reynolds, Sr. in 1958. To this union was born three children: Mary Samathia Reynolds Haslerig, Edgar O. (Angela) Reynolds Jr., and Felicia Antoinette Reynolds. She has three beautiful grandchildren: Cierra Reynolds, Edwyn Reynolds, and Austin Kemp. Along with her husband, children, and grandchildren, she is also survived by her sister, Floretta (Steve) James of Bowling Green; several nieces and nephews; brother-in-law Richard D. Grigsby of Mounds, IL and two nieces, Sheila Grigsby and Karla Grigsby; and special friends Dorothy Martin, Clarice Willis, Shane Gadson, and Pat Bowman, all of Greenville. She also helped raise her special niece, Tiffany Chante Alexander.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Abraham and Annie Mae Hopkins; brother Charles A. Hopkins; father-in-law Edgar "Trib" Reynolds; mother-in-law Mary Mitchell Reynolds; son-in-law Willie A. Haslerig; sister Hattie Mae Harrell; and sister-in-law Ola Mae Reynolds Grigsby.

She was an active member of First Missionary Baptist Church and served as Deaconess, choir member, Sunday School teacher, BTU teacher, Sunday School secretary, and on the Mother Board. She was the oldest member of the church at her death. She also worked as a Muhlenberg County Deputy Jailer and at Martin Cleaners, and was a Head Start teacher and beautician. She was also a babysitter to several children in the community, and was a member of Eastern Kentucky Social Club. She was very dedicated to her family and grandchildren and her goal was to make sure they knew about the Lord.

Funeral services will be Friday, February 23, 2018, at 12:00 noon at First Missionary Baptist Church in Greenville, with Rev. Terrance Minor officiating. Burial in West End Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday after 11:00AM at the church. Tucker Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Online condolences may be made at
