CENTRAL CITY - Bobbye Allen Oates, 88, of Central City, died Thursday, February 23, 2017, at 5:00PM at Hillcrest Signature in Owensboro. Mrs. Oates was born April 25, 1928, in Muhlenberg County. She was a clerk at Sears for 25 years, and was a member of First Baptist Church in Central City. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Oates; and brother Paul Glenn Allen.

She is survived by her son, Mike Oates of Central City; daughters Donna (Larry) Erwin of Brandenburg, Jo Ann (Gordon) Peterson of Louisville, Becky (Richard) Smith of Sacramento, Patty Duncan of Madisonville, Elizabeth (Roger) Young of Madisonville, and Anita Blair of Austin, TX; grandchildren Jason Erwin, Scott Erwin, Darrick Erwin, Kylee Erwin, Sam Peterson, Richie Smith, Miles Smith, Heather Duncan, Heath Duncan, Michael Oates, and Joe Oates; 17 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; and brother Shirley Allen of Virginia.

Funeral services will be Saturday, February 25, 2017, at 1:00PM at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City, with Bro. Wendell Wood officiating. Burial in Unity Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday after 11:00AM at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Unity Cemetery Fund. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
