BREMEN – Charles Edwin "Eddie" Perry, 61, of Bremen, died Saturday, June 8, 2019, at 9:44AM at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. Eddie Perry was born in Muhlenberg County on October 22nd, 1957 to Owen Thomas Perry and Mary Ann Moore Perry (both deceased). Eddie was married in June, 1986 to Kathy Stringer, the love of his life. Eddie and Kathy lived in Bremen and supported the community together until his death. Eddie was a Baptist and he and Kathy were fortunate to be a part of two church families: Bethlehem Baptist Church in Bremen and Green River Chapel General Baptist Church in Central City. He lived and worked in Muhlenberg County all of his life. Upon graduating from Muhlenberg Central High School in 1975, Eddie went to work in the coal mines and was a member of the UMWA like many young men in the county at the time. At the time of his death, he was employed by Rhino Pennyrile Energy.

During the time of lay-offs from the mines, Eddie would work 7 years as Deputy Jailer and 8 1/2 years as a full-time Deputy Sheriff. He was later elected to serve a term as Muhlenberg County Sheriff. During these years, Eddie was on the Board of Directors for the following organizations: Muhlenberg County Alliance for Methamphetamine Prevention, Champions Against Drugs, Pennyrile Narcotics Force, and Muhlenberg County Drug Court. While serving as Sheriff, he was the Chairman of the Muhlenberg County 911 Board. Eddie was also a Kentucky Colonel and Mason. He was awarded a Citation of Excellence from the House of Representatives and the Commonwealth of Kentucky for 20 years of service to the people of Muhlenberg County. Eddie loved the people he served and took pride in the community.

Eddie was a huge University of Kentucky Wildcat fan and took pride in taking care of his lawn and swimming pool to the point that they were always immaculate. He lived and enjoyed life and people to the fullest and will long be remembered for his contributions to all. Eddie loved his family and will be missed by his wife, sister, brothers, mother and father in-law, brothers-in-law, 7 nephews, 3 nieces, great nieces, and great nephew as well as a multitude of friends. He always had a dog; he loved his Retrievers and will be missed by his beloved dog, Bentley.

Eddie is survived by his wife, Kathy Stringer Perry; brothers Tommy Perry and Bobby (Rita) Perry, both of Central City; sister Jackie (Danny) Phillips of Central City; and nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephew.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, June 12, 2019, at 11:00AM at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City, with Rev. Leroy Rearden officiating, assisted by Rev. Larry Shadowen. Burial in Bethlehem Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday after 5:00PM at the funeral home. Online condolences may be made at www.tuckerfuneralhomes.com.
