CENTRAL CITY - David Baxter Simms, 70, of Central City, died Wednesday, July 11, 2018, at 7:20PM under the care of Hospice of Western Kentucky. Mr. Simms was born March 9, 1948, in Oakland, IN. He retired from TVA in 2013 as a heavy equipment foreman, and was a member of Vernal Grove Missionary Baptist Church. He devoted his whole life to his family, especially his grandchildren. He laughed at his own jokes, and had a special father/son relationship with his brother-in-law Mark Bumgardner. He served in the Army during the Vietnam War. He was an avid outdoor individual that loved to hunt and fish. He was preceded in death by his parents, W. G. and Irene Simms; and one sister.

He is survived by his daughters, Morgan (Aaron) Schroader, Samantha Simms, and Shawna Simms, all of Central City; sons Jon-Michael Simms of Central City and Chris Simms of Paducah; two sisters; one brother; grandchildren Emma, Carson, Caroline, and Eden; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be Saturday, July 14, 2018, at 11:00AM at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City, with Bro. Jeremy Jessup officiating. Burial in Vernal Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday after 5:00PM at the funeral home. Online condolences may be made at www.tuckerfuneralhomes.com.
