CENTRAL CITY - Edna Mae Whitaker, resident of Diversicare, passed away Wednesday, January 3, 2018, at 2:50PM at Owensboro Health Muhlenberg Community Hospital. Mrs. Whitaker was born February 27, 1916, in Muhlenberg County. She was a homemaker and member of Leigh's Chapel General Baptist Church. She was the last living charter member of twelve that founded Leigh's Chapel Church in Greenville. She was also a cook at several different restaurants. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Whitaker in 1993; sons Robert and George Whitaker; brothers Edward and James Tinsley; sisters Margie Evitts and Pauline Carver; and grandson Michael Whitaker.

She is survived by her grandchildren, Tony Whitaker of Newburgh, IN, Kathy Samuels of Evansville, IN, Julie Gray of Evansville, IN, David Whitaker of Beech Creek, Maria Bailey of Bradenton, FL, and James Whitaker of Central City; nine great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; and daughters-in-law Janice Whitaker and Margie Whitaker.

Funeral services will be Saturday, January 6, 2018, at 1:00PM at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City. Burial in Old Jackson Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday after 5:00PM at the funeral home. Online condolences may be made at
