GREENVILLE - Irene Dale Vaughn Perry departed this life for her heavenly home on Monday, April 28, 2014 at her home in Greenville surrounded by her loved ones. Irene was born (along with her identical twin sister Arlene) on January 22, 1931 in Huntsville, KY to Herschel Ray and Gertrude Baldwin Vaughn, who preceded her in death. Irene's siblings, Arlene Gale Baugh, Helen Eileen Wester, Howard Randell Vaughn, and Aubrey Ray Vaughn also preceded her in death, along with a nephew Jerry Vaughn and a niece by marriage, Kay Wester.

Irene graduated from Drakesboro High School in 1949. She faithfully attended the Alumni Banquet until her failing health did not allow. After graduation, Irene worked at GE in Owensboro. In 1951, she met the love of her life, Marvin Riddle Perry and they were married in Rochester on July 25, 1952. They were married for 34 years before Marvin died on June 1, 1989.

Irene served faithfully for many decades as the organist at Drakesboro United Methodist Church. Irene worked at Sears Roebuck & Co. at Central City where she was the Service Department manager. She retired in 1976 to enjoy her grandchildren.

To this union were born two children, Michael Lynn (Kathy) Perry of Alabaster, AL and Janice Gale (Dennis) Metcalfe, who survive. She was blessed with three grandchildren, Matthew Dwayne Geary (fiance' Sarah Lawrence) of Carbondale, IL, Deb-E (Bobby) Rhoades of Helena, AL, and Chastity (Russ) Robinson of Waco, TX. Also surviving are six great-grandchildren, Megan, Alex and Payton Rhoades of Helena, AL and Wyatt, Savannah, and Brandon Robinson of Waco, TX. Other family member that survive are sister-in-law Nita Vaughn of Greenville, brother-in-law Charles Baugh of Madisonville, and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Funeral services will be Thursday, May 1, 2014 at 2:00PM at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City, with Bro. Mark Poiles officiating, assisted by Rev. Clayton Vertrees. Burial in Rose Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday after 5:00PM at the funeral home. Online condolences may be made at
