BEECHMONT - J.P. Burden, 77, of Beechmont, died Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at Vanderbilt Medical Center. Mr. Burden was born May 25, 1936 in Butler County. He was a retired coal miner and member of Mud River Union General Baptist Church. He was a U.S. Army veteran.

Survivors include his son, James Eric (Michele) Burden of Drakesboro; daughter Jamie K. (Vernon) Hamby of Mayfield; grandchildren Jerina (Rich) Edwards, Michael (Lauren) Gaines, Randon Gardner, Cody (Leslie) Gaines, Sarah Hamby, James Clayton Burden, Erica Burden, and Haley Burden; great-grandchildren Reece Edwards, Riley Edwards, Madison Edwards, and Isabella Gaines; sisters Rosie Porter, Marly Renfrow, and Nancy Jarvis; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, May 13, 2014, at 2:00PM at Mud River Union General Baptist Church, with Rev. Robert Lindsey officiating, assisted by Rev. Brian Haire. Burial in Mud River Union Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday after 5:00PM at Tucker Beechmont Funeral Home. Mr. Burden will lie in state at Mud River Union General Baptist Church after 11:00AM on Tuesday. Online condolences may be made at www.tuckerfuneralhomes.com.
