GREENVILLE - James Lewis "Jimmy" Newman, 78, of Greenville, died Tuesday, October 29, 2013 at Vanderbilt Medical Center. Mr. Newman was born May 11, 1935 in Muhlenberg County. He was a retired coal miner and member of Carter Creek Baptist Church. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during the Korean war. He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Hilda Wells Newman; sister Mary Frances Blake; and parents W.A. and Willie Carver Newman.

Survivors include his daughter, Lisa J. Rolley of Greenville; step-son Ronnie (Vickie) Scott of Greenville; grandchildren Jonathan (Sabrina) Scott of Greenville and Tyler (Chrissy) Rolley of Central City; great-granddaughter Lorelai Rolley of Central City; brother Robert (Joyce) Newman of Greenville; and sisters Billie (Randy) Hadley of Greenville and Dorena (Leonard) Johannson of Belton.

Funeral services will be Friday, November 1, 2013 at 11:00AM at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City, with Rev. Wayne Stewart officiating, assisted by Rev. Tommy Wilhite. Burial in Carter Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday after 5:00PM at the funeral home. Online condolences may be made at
