ODON, IN - John Courtland Wilkins, 94, of Odon, Indiana, died Saturday, April 26, 2014 at 11:17AM at Daviess Community Hospital in Washington, IN. Mr. Wilkins was born February 6, 1920 in Bremen. He was a carpenter and construction worker for 70 years, and was a lifelong member of Bethlehem Baptist Church in Bremen. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in the Pacific during World War II. He was a member of Masonic Lodge #596 in Bremen for 69 years. He was a Kentucky Colonel, awarded this in 1969 for service to the Owensboro community, where he lived for 40 years. He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Nell Howell Wilkins; parents Charlie and Emma Wilkins; and brothers Edgar Wilkins and J.W. Wilkins.

Survivors include his daughter, Beverly McDowell of Odon, Indiana; and grandchildren Ron Stobaugh of Odon and Robin Stobaugh of Evansville.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, April 29, 2014 at 1:00PM at Tucker Memorial Chapel in Sacramento, with Rev. Leroy Rearden officiating. Burial in Bethlehem Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday after 11:00AM at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Bethlehem Baptist Church or Bethlehem Church Cemetery Fund.
