John Wesley Holt Jr.

GREENVILLE -- John Wesley Holt Jr., 57, of Greenville, died at 6:36 p.m. Saturday, June 5, 2010, at Muhlenberg Community Hospital, Greenville. He was born Oct. 20, 1951, in Illinois. He was a member of Lone Star Baptist Church, was a City of Madisonville policeman and a Hopkins County deputy sheriff. He was a member of Federal Order of Police and was a Kentucky DARE Officer of the Year. He was preceded in death by his mother and stepfather, Shirley and Charles Sterrett and a daughter, Sarah Holt Beck.

Survivors include his wife, Susan DeArmond Holt of Greenville; a son Aaron (Cathi) Holt of Georgetown; a daughter, Angelia (James) Martinez of Victoria, Texas; a former son-in-law, Jerry Beck of Central City; four grandchildren, Whitney, Wesley Holt, Isabella Martinez and Lucas Beck; father, John Wesley Sr. (Brenda) Holt; three brothers David (Judith) Holt of Charollett, Iowa, Jim (Dorothy) Holt and Mark Holt, all of Metropolis, Ill; four sisters, Charlotte (Jay) Stratemeyer, Denise (Glenn) Meyer, all of Metropolis, Kerry (Keith) Seeman of Joppa, Ill., and Melody Holt of Nashville.

Services will be conducted by Dr. Charles Richards and the Rev. Tony Shanks at 10 a.m. Thursday at Tucker Funeral Home. Burial in Lone Star Cemetery. Visitation after 4 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
