DRAKESBORO – Raymond Earl Buchanan, Jr., "Doctor Ray", passed away on February 19, 2017. Ray was born on October 12, 1948, to Edith and Raymond Buchanan, Sr. Ray served in the Air Force for eight years. Ray worked as a Physician's Assistant for Dr. James Brashear for over 40 years. He was a loving and devoted husband to Margaret "Marge" Buchanan for 47 years. He was a dedicated and caring father to both his sons, Richard and Michael. In his spare time Ray loved to hunt, fish, camp, tend to his beehives, and do many different crafts and projects.

Ray is survived by his wife, Marge; his two sons, Richard Buchanan and his wife Debbie Buchanan, and Michael Buchanan; three grandchildren, Jamie Buchanan-Wood and her husband, Josh Wood, Joe Buchanan, and Drew Buchanan; his sister Betty Fitzpatrick and her husband Louis Fitzpatrick; and his brother Barry Buchanan and his wife, Roxanne Buchanan. He also has several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who were like family to him. Special acknowledgements to the following: Robert and Karon Brown; and his work family, Katrina Huff, Karson Cavitt, and Lindsey Watkins.

The family would like to thank Owensboro Health Muhlenberg Community Hospital, Tucker Funeral Home, and the many medical professionals, friends, and everyone that knew Ray for their support and assistance during our time of sorrow.

A private service was held for Ray and his immediate family as per his wishes. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Raymond Buchanan Memorial Fund, c/o Tucker Funeral Home, P.O. Box 548, Central City, KY 42330.
