GREENVILLE - Robert Melton, 86, of Greenville, went home to be with the Lord on May 30, 2011 at Owensboro Medical Health System. Mr. Melton was born March 31, 1925 in Perry County, KY. He was a retired coal miner with Peabody Coal Co. and member of Cave Springs Missionary Baptist Church. He was a Kentucky Colonel and member of UMWA. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Ollie Melton; loving wife Lovetta Combs Melton; and daughter Kathy Browning.

Survivors include his children, Wanda (Ernest) Roberts of Lexington, Shirley (Roy) Beard of Central City, Brenda (Thomas) Gibson of Greenville, Barbara (Mike) Keith of Greenville, and Mark (Nancy) Melton of Greenville; grandchildren Brian and Geoffrey Roberts, Stephanie (Jack) Bargert, Bradford (Mandy) Gibson, Shannon (Billy) Myers, April (Jeremy) Jessup, Andrea Toll, and Hannah Melton; and 19 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Thursday, June 2, 2011 at 2:00PM at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City, with Rev. Jeremy Jessup officiating. Burial in Cave Springs Cemetery in Greenville. Visitation will be Wednesday after 5:00PM at the funeral home. Online condolences may be made at
