Ruth W. Clark

CENTRAL CITY -- Ruth W. Clark, 86, of Central City died Saturday, May 29, 2010, while in long-term care at Muhlenberg Community Hospital in Greenville, following a long struggle with Alzheimer's disease. She was born in 1924 in Bentonville, Ark., the daughter of George and Elva (Frazer) Lawson. She was a charter member of the New Testament Christian Church in Central City and a member of Mount Zion Homemakers Club of Central City. She was preceded in death 17 years ago by her husband of 53 years, Elmer Clark. She passed away on what would have been their 70th wedding anniversary. She was also preceded in death by her parents, George and Elva Lawson; four brothers, Virgil, Floyd, Ralph and Joe Lawson; and three sisters, Myrtle Johnson, Viola Murphy and Elizabeth Riggs.

Survivors include three sons and a daughter, Jerry (Sue) Clark of Adrian, Mo., Jean (Fred) Byars of Central City, Jim (Sherlyn) Clark of Livermore and Joe (Judy) Clark of Georgetown; nine grandchildren, Bryan and Amy Clark, Freddie DeWayne and Todd Byars, Scott Clark and Kim Carman, Shane and Shawn Clark and Sarah Jeter; 14 great-grandchildren, Blaine Clark, Jamie and Joey Byars and Taylor and Travis Byars, Shayna and Celia Clark, Hannah, Hope, Noah and Faith Clark and Shelbi and Jacob Clark and Abby Jeter; and many nieces and nephews.

Services are at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City, with Brother George Carmon officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery in Central City. Visitation after 5 p.m. today at the funeral home. Online condolences may be made at www.tuckerfuneralhomes.com.
