ISLAND - Shirley Ann Whitaker, 70, of Island, died Sunday, January 13, 2019, at 5:10PM at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. Mrs. Whitaker was born April 29, 1948, in Daviess County. She was a cook at West Kentucky Veterans Center in Hanson, and a member of St. Sebastian Catholic Church in Calhoun. She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Josie Dossett; and brothers Barry Dossett and Kenny Dossett.

She is survived by her daughter, Stacy Onstott; significant other Johny Cates; brother Terry (Cindy) Dossett; sister Sue Johnson; sister-in-law Mary Dossett; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be Thursday, January 17, 2019, at 1:00PM at St. Sebastian Catholic Church in Calhoun, with Father Josh McCarty officiating. Burial in West Union Schoolhouse Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday after 5:00PM and Thursday from 10:00AM until 12:00 noon at Tucker Memorial Chapel in Sacramento. There will be prayers on Wednesday at 7:00PM at the funeral home.
