CENTRAL CITY - Tanya Phelps Whitney, 54, of Central City, died Saturday, January 28, 2017, at her home. Mrs. Whitney was born February 19, 1962, in Muhlenberg County. She was a homemaker. She loved basketball, UK Wildcats, and listening to gospel music. She was preceded in death by her mother, Wanda Stull Phelps; father Major Jotus Phelps; and brother Tony Phelps.

She leaves behind her husband, Larry Whitney; daughter Latoya Whitney; son Tron Whitney; brothers Terry Phelps (companion Bonnie), Timmy (Cynthia) Phelps, and Ty Phelps; sisters Tonya (Ray) Austin, Sybil Phelps, Brenda Patton, and Paulette Cheatman; and four grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Saturday, February 4, 2017, at 11:00AM at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City, with Rev. Otis Cunningham officiating, assisted by Pastor Jennifer Carney. Burial in West End Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday after 9:00AM at the funeral home. Online condolences may be made at
