CENTRAL CITY - Thomas Clifton Lamb, 93, of Central City, died Friday, December 4, 2015. The son of Clifton and Grace Sanders Lamb, he was born on February 22, 1922 (2-22-22) in Sturgis, KY and graduated from Nortonville High School and the Louisville School of Pharmacy.

In World War Two he served as navigator for the United States Army Air Corps and was honorably discharged as a Second Lieutenant. He moved to Central City in 1946. In 1947 Mr. Lamb married the former Sarah Louise Mercer. During his long career as a pharmacist, Mr. Lamb owned several pharmacies in Central City, including Donavon's Drug Store, Corner Drug Store and Clinic Pharmacy. He also mentored other pharmacists including Cecil Vincent, David Miller and Tom Wortham.

Mr. Lamb was a member and past president of the Central City Chamber of Commerce and the Central City Lions Club, as well as a charter member and past president of the Central City County Club. He was also a longtime board member of First National Bank of Muhlenberg County and a member and past chairman of the Central City Water Commission. He was a member of the Central City First United Methodist Church.

He was an avid golfer and tennis player and was the forever-proud 1938 tennis champion of St. Charles, KY. He was also a voracious reader.

Mr. Lamb's wife preceded him in death. He is survived by five children: Jennybeth (Ron) McRoy, Fountain Hills, AZ. Amy Lynn (Bob) McCartt, Farragut, TN. Greg (Trish) Lamb, Central City. Lee Lamb Ryser, Hendersonville, TN and Steven (Suzanne) Lamb, Central City; nine grandchildren: Carter (Sam) Mogren, Mercer (Tony) Rolfe, Dr. Eric (Intan) McCartt, Matthew McCartt, Andrew McCartt, Jackson Lamb, John Thomas Lamb, Hadley Lamb and Nash Lamb; and five great grandchildren: Madelyn and Parker Mogren, Harrison and Callan Rolfe and Allie McCartt . Mr. Lamb is also survived by one niece, Leslye (Bill) Bowman and three nephews, Bill Mercer, John (Ruth) Mercer and Buck (Bernadette) Mercer.

A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, January 16, 2016, at 11:00AM at First United Methodist Church in Central City, conducted by Rev. Otis Cunningham and Dr. Kevin Brown. Visitation will be Saturday after 9:00AM at the church.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Ebenezer Baptist Church or First United Methodist Church, both of Central City.
