BEECHMONT - Velma Ruth Pogue, 81, of Beechmont, died Tuesday, December 15, 2015, at 2:25PM at Owensboro Health Muhlenberg Community Hospital. Mrs. Pogue was born May 31, 1934, in Muhlenberg County. She was a homemaker and member of Mud River Union General Baptist Church. She loved going to church and playing cards with her friends. She enjoyed spending time with her family and shopping with anyone that would provide her transportation. She also enjoyed attending sporting events that family participated in and watching Kentucky basketball. She was preceded in death by her husband, Eldon "Red" Pogue; parents A.H. and Beulah Maxberry; step-mother Nora Maxberry; great-grandson Charlie Porter; brother J.O. Maxberry; and sister Marlene Crowder.

She is survived by her children, Dianne (Tim) Porter of Dunmor, Kathy (Glendell) Garrett of Greenville, and Kerry Pogue of Bowling Green; grandchildren Craig Porter, Chad (Kim) Porter, Brandon Gibson, and Shannon (Randall) Ramage; step-grandchildren Stephanie (Joey) Draper and Chris (April) Garrett; great-grandchildren Holly, Meghan, Kaylond, Eden, Sabrina, Tucker, and Treyden; step-great-grandchildren Katie and Hallie; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be Sunday, December 20, 2015, at 2:00PM at Mud River Union General Baptist Church, with Rev. Brian Haire officiating, assisted by Rev. Derrick Benton. Burial in Mud River Union Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday after 5:00PM and Sunday after 9:00AM at Tucker Beechmont Funeral Home. Mrs. Pogue will lie in state at Mud River Union General Baptist Church on Sunday after 12:00 noon. Online condolences may be made at www.tuckerfuneralhomes.com.
